Germany Politics: Germany awaits SPD coalition verdict

Germany's Social Democrats have begun counting their votes on a proposed coalition with Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives.
The result is expected to be announced at eight GMT. A majority "yes" vote will keep Merkel in power for a fourth term. A "no" will bring a new wave of uncertainty. Since elections in September, Germany's parties have struggled to form a coalition government.
