Military rescue operations underway after deadly Sichuan quake

The People’s Liberation Army Central Theater Command are carrying out relief operations following Wednesday's earthquake in southwest China's Sichuan Province that killed at least 19 and injured more than 200.
Two of the command’s I-L-76 planes transported 88 rescue team members, 5 sniffer dogs and equipment to the affected areas this morning.
Ground and air forces from the PLA Western Theater Command are also participating in the rescue work. 90 vehicles, 9 aircraft, and almost 1,300 soldiers have been dispatched, while more forces are on standby awaiting confirmation of casualties and damage.
