Police officer shot at Texas Tech University

A police officer was shot at the police department on the Texas Tech University campus in Lubbock on Monday night, officials have confirmed.

The shooting happened at around 8 p.m. local time when police were interviewing a suspect, local media report.

The suspect has been apprehended and a lockdown of the campus has been lifted, according to the university.

Texas Tech University, where students are allowed to carry weapons, is the sixth-largest university in the southern US state.
