In his report to the 19th CPC National Congress, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said that China has made further progress in diplomacy since the CPC's 18th National Congress.
Xi's new vision of China's diplomacy is considered to have far-reaching implications for human development and progress, and his diplomatic ideas and new thinking reject the old concept of confrontation and rise above the old approach of zero-sum games.
Delegates said they have full confidence that China will continue to be an anchor of international stability, an engine of global economic growth, a champion of peace and development and a contributor to global governance.

Xi said in the report that Chinese people’s dreams are closely connected with those of people in other countries, and that the Chinese Dream can be realized only in a peaceful international environment and under a stable international order. Xi added, "We must keep in mind both our internal and international imperatives, stay on the path of peaceful development, and continue to pursue a mutually beneficial strategy of opening up."
Chen Linjing, a delegate at the Congress, said, "The fact that many important diplomatic events have been held in China indicates that China follows the principle of achieving shared growth through discussions and cooperation in engaging in global governance, and the open and inclusive principle of planning together, building together and benefiting together."

China has pursued the Belt and Road Initiative, proposed and helped to establish the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, set up the Silk Road Fund, and hosted the First Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. It also hosted the 22nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, the G20 2016 Summit in Hangzhou, the BRICS Summit in Xiamen, and the Fourth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia. This has all come during Xi Jinping’s leadership.
Delegates said there are growing uncertainties and destabilizing factors worldwide, but China always sticks to promoting trade and investment liberalization, and making economic globalization more open, inclusive, and balanced.
They said they have seen growth in China's international influence, and China has made great contributions to global peace and development, adding that Xi’s words about diplomacy provided a guide for Chinese diplomats.

"Xi Jinping has highlighted the importance of following a path of peaceful development and working to build a community with a shared future for mankind," said Xu Heyi, a delegate to the Congress and chairman of automaker Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation (BAIC).
"He said China adheres to the fundamental national policy of opening up and pursues development with its doors open wide. China's development is shared by all. The Belt and Road Initiative is a good example that we could build a new platform for international cooperation and promote infrastructure, trade, financial and people-to-people connectivity. And that will also help Chinese companies going global."
