Chinese Envoy Reiterates Syria Position: Envoy: Syrian independence and territorial integrity must be respected

Chinese Special Envoy for Syria Xie Xiaoyan visited Saudi Arabia, Syria and Israel in late July. At a press briefing Monday, Xie reiterated China's position on the Syria conflict. He said China has always stood for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria, all of which must be respected and preserved. Xie also said China has not, and will not send military forces into Syria. The Chinese Envoy stressed the importance of international unity to confront terrorism.
XIE XIAOYAN CHINA'S SPECIAL ENVOY FOR SYRIA "First, there is no Chinese military presence in Syria. You can understand this as a political statement/manifestation. Secondly, we call on all parties to solve the Syrian crisis through peaceful methods. Third, we are willing to enhance cooperation with the international community on anti-terrorism. And we have already conducted very good cooperation."
