M5.7 earthquake hits NW China’s Xinjiang

A magnitude-5.7 earthquake has hit Kuqa county in northwestern China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Quake occurred at a depth of 6 km, according to China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The earthquake struck at 6:11 p.m. BJT on Saturday. The epicenter was monitored at 42.11 degrees north latitude and 83.43 degrees east longitude.
As of now, no casualties or damage have been reported. The earthquake can possibly cause light damage due to sparse population in the vicinity of the epicenter.
