Japan will establish amphibious forces under its Ground Self-Defense Force on Tuesday. Japanese media says the new Japanese Marine Corps will comprise over 21-hundred personnel. It's seen as a key step to take command of the air and sea. The Ground Self-Defense Force will also set up a unified command with 180 people. It will cooperate with its air and maritime forces and the US Army. Japanese media says this is the largest reshuffle since the Self-Defense Forces were established in 1954.
