Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday attended a gathering in Beijing and extended lunar New Year greetings to leaders from non-Communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and those without party affiliation, stressing four new outlooks for multi-party cooperation.
Xi noted that since socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, he is looking forward to a new look on the multi-party cooperation, an increase in the ideological consensus between the Party and non-Communist parties, new achievements for all sides to perform responsibility and new appearances of parties' participation in government and political affairs.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, called on non-Communist parties and personnel to improve their political identification with the CPC and with socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Xi also emphasized that 2017 was a milestone year for the CPC and China's development, as well as for the multi-party cooperation. "All non-Communist parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and those without party affiliation safeguarded the authority of the CPC Central Committee, achieving great success in terms of gathering strength and serving the overall interests of China," Xi said.
All sides participated actively in offering advice to the CPC for its scientific decision-making and effective policy implementation, resulting in more than 150 pieces of suggestions, Xi confirmed.
Xi said the year 2018 marks the first year of fully implementing "the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China," and also marks a significant year to achieve a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up.
"In a few days we will have our traditional festival – the Chinese New Year. I am very pleased to gather with friends both old and new here to enhance our friendship and celebrate the upcoming festival," Xi said.
