Huawei Sustainability Report: 'No tangible change' since US vow to allow sales to Huawei

Telecom giant Huawei gave a statement on Friday after the U.S. announced that it would allow American companies to sell products to Huawei. In response, the Chinese firm has asked to be taken off the U.S. Entity list. CGTN's He Weiwei has more.
LIANG HUA CHAIRMAN OF HUAWEI "We acknowledge the statement that President Trump made, but so far we haven't seen any tangible change."
The United States may have reversed its policy towards Huawei, but the tech giant still faces risk and political uncertainty in the global market and with other countries."
LIANG HUA CHAIRMAN OF HUAWEI "We strongly oppose adding Huawei to the Entity List, we believe it is not a fact-based decision, and it's harmful especially to U.S. companies. Our standing is that the Entity list should be lifted completely."
HE WEIWEI SHENZHEN "Going forward, how will Huawei maintain its level of sustainability on an international scale?"
LIANG HUA CHAIRMAN OF HUAWEI "We're committed to legal compliances with local laws and regulations in over 170 countries where we operate. That's the only approach to maintaining healthy business. We'll concentrate our efforts and resources to serve those who have chosen to work with us."
At the press conference, Huawei released its 2018 sustainability report, mainly focusing on digital inclusion. The telecom giant says four billion people worldwide still have no Internet access, therefore Huawei has launched a "Tech4All" initiative.

To this end, we have launched a global digital inclusion initiative called TECH4ALL. For example, one of our projects called "RuralStar" has connected 40 million rural residents as of the end of 2018."
In the next five years, the company plans to invest 2 billion U.S. dollars in international software engineering capability enhancement.
