Meanwhile, an EXHIBITION featuring the work of some young Chinese photographers has kicked off at the Three Shadows Photography Art Center in Beijing. Titled "Ten Directions", the event commemorates the 10th Anniversary of the Three Shadows Photography Award, which was built to IDENTIFY new trends in Chinese photography.
The works represent a selection of 38 young artists--all participants in past editions of the Three Shadows Photography Award.
Some images draw out the relationship between man and nature, some dig deep into social and cultural phenomena, and some, assisted by the latest image editing technology, go beyond the light and shadows of digital photography.
The art center's director Nataline says the exhibit is expected to help the audience understand how Chinese artists work with photos.
Chen Zhe is a Beijing-based artist who graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. She's the winner of the Three Shadows Award in 2011, and has picked-up many other international accolades for her photography.
This time the 29-year-old is showcasing her latest work, dubbed, Twilight.
Located in Beijing's Caochangdi Art District, the Three Shadows Photography Art Center is one of China's first independent organizations specializing in contemporary art photography.
It was founded over 10 years ago in 2007.
The 10th Anniversary show will run through August 5th. A series of seminars will also be held during its run.
