To celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the festival that marks the end of the month of Ramadan, in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, music is indispensable for Uygurs who are known to be good singers and dancers. Uygur music is colored with strong ethnic features. Traditional skills and old musical instruments help produce distinctive exotic dance music. A local Uygur band has gathered for the final rehearsal for the festive party, which for Uygurs not only means a festive celebration, but also a legacy of ethnic art.
