Have you ever wondered how artificial intelligence (AI) and space technologies can impact daily life? Here’s one example. A smart service now allows entrepreneurs in Guangzhou, a city in China's Guangdong Province, to finish their business registration within 10 minutes.
CGTN follows Wang Ping, a businessman in Guangzhou to see how to get a business license for his new company. The whole process happens on an automated machine:
- Types in all information needed, and waiting for instant AI approval;
- Gets a confirmation message, and finishes facial recognition via phone;
- Verifies his identity card and scans his face again;
- Prints the license automatically after another instant approval.
It’s all done within minutes – while other people are still waiting for over-the-counter service.
“I set up a company before. In the past, it took us one or two weeks to get a license,” Wang Ping told CGTN. “Now it’s so fast and convenient. It’s really good for businessmen in Guangzhou.”

“One or two weeks” – that’s what happened in the far past. Now even at the counter, a business license application only takes about 24 hours, and has been shortened to minutes thanks to advanced technology. The service first launched in October 2017, with Guangzhou as the first city to test it out.
“Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for strengthening reforms of the business environment in megacities,” Tan Manqing, director of Guangzhou Administration for Industry & Commerce told CGTN. “In Guangzhou, we’ve made constant progress in the company registration system, moving from the over-the-counter service, to online application, and now to AI instant approval."

The smart service also involves technology developed from aerospace science. Aisino corporation provides technical support.
“The technology involves the encryption and transmission of confidential information, which is used in space projects,” said Ma Zhenzhou, deputy general manager of Aisino corporation. “We are working on developing space technology for civil use, not only in commerce but also in the exit and entry system, food and drug safety, government affairs, etc.”
As China continues its space exploration, more related technologies are expected to make people’s daily lives easier.
