Polyurethane foam used to insulate a basement refrigerated storage area may have contributed to the release of toxic gas that killed 19 people during a fire in an apartment building in Beijing earlier this month, according to an official investigation. Another eight people were injured in the blaze on November 18 in the southern Daxing district. Carbon monoxide poisoning caused all the fatalities in the building, home to more than 400 people.
