Conflicts have always driven tourists away, but not in Jerusalem. The holy city receives more than three million tourists every year. Despite the surrounding tensions, visitors enjoy their visit.
TOM STANTON US TOURIST "When they said there were missiles in the Golan heights, we were a little uncomfortable with that. In fact, our friends told us to find where the bomb shelter was. When we came we found that it was very peaceful."
BETH STANTON US TOURIST "It's more ancient and old, we feel safe and secure everywhere we like it so much. We've studied about Jesus and his life and here we are in the place where Jesus was, that's so special for us."
RICK GREENBERG US TOURIST "I'm impressed by it. It's very religious, it's more religious on the Jewish side it's more religious than I had expected it to be. It's a very historical place, being in the holy city makes me thrilled, you can see its holy for so many different people."
Religious sites are the number one tourist attraction here. But Jerusalem's social composition is also another unique aspect about the city. Here, Arabs, Christians and Jews have preserved their traditions for centuries, giving visitors a unique cultural exposure.
TOM STANTON US TOURIST "One of the things that was very interesting in the difference between orthodox Jews and other Jews in the way that their societies support them. And the cost to the normal Jewish citizen, higher taxes and so forth, that was interesting. We are strong believers and but we don't get that kind of support from our community."
With historic architecture surrounding it, and modern urban planning expanding the city, Jerusalem is a place of tradition, religion, art and mystery.
ADEL EL MAHROUKY CAIRO "The magnificence of this holy city is that it'll leave a great impression and impress anyone regardless to their nationalities. AMA, CGTN, Jerusalem."
