Putin congratulates Xi for being elected Chinese president

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday congratulated Xi Jinping for being elected Chinese president.
Putin said the decision made by the National People's Congress of China has once again proven that Xi enjoys high prestige and is also an affirmation of Xi's contribution to the nation's economic and social development and to safeguarding the country's interests on the international stage. 
He noted that Sino-Russian relations have reached unprecedented heights in recent years, thanks to President Xi's promotion. Bilateral relations have become a real example of developing equal and mutually beneficial cooperation among great powers.
The Russian president said he will be very glad to have a new meeting with Xi and believed through the joint efforts of the two sides, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership will be further consolidated and take on new connotations.
This will undoubtedly improve the welfare of the citizens from two countries and promoted the security and stability of the Eurasian continent and the world, Putin added.
