A bullet-riddled body of one of the remaining Vietnamese sailors the Abu Sayyaf militant group kidnapped last year was found in a village of Sulu island, in the northern Philippines.
A bullet-riddled body of Vietnamese sailor, Tran Khac Dung, was found on Saturday after a gunfire between Philippine militants and the Abu Sayyaf terrorists, according to CCTV reporters, citing local media reports.
The military, however, did not give further details on when the slain Vietnamese crewman was recovered and whether the crewman was killed by Abu Sayyaf or shot in gunfire.
In November 2016, Abu Sayyaf members kidnapped a Vietnamese cargo ship along with six crew members as hostages in Basilan province of the southern Philippines.
One was rescued and another two, who were also Vietnamese, were found beheaded on July 5. They had been held hostage for eight months before they were executed by their captors.
The Abu Sayyaf is still holding 16 other foreigners and four Filipinos.
