Hundreds in Myanmar joined in the celebrations on the first day of the Lunar New Year.
The Chinese dragon and lion dance parade maneuvered through the crowds. Chinatown was packed and free food was handed out. Nearly three-percent of Myanmar's population is Chinese.
In India, people gathered at Quan Cong Temple in Mumbai on the eve of the Year of the Dog. They burned incense and prayed and lion dances proved the hit of the evening. The holiday atmosphere is spreading as Belt and Road Initiative projects send more Chinese people abroad.
