Four Chinese nationals missing after dredger, tanker collide in Singapore waters

Four Chinese crew members of a Dominican Republic-registered dredger are missing after a collision with an Indonesian-registered tanker in Singaporean waters on Wednesday, the Chinese Embassy to Singapore said after receiving notice from the Singapore Police Coast Guard.
A total of 12 crew, including 11 Chinese nationals and one Malaysian, were on board the dredger at the time of incident.
According to a statement released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), seven other Chinese nationals have been rescued and transferred to the Singapore General Hospital, while the four other Chinese and one Malaysian crew member are still missing.
The MPA said that it was notified of the collision at around 12:40 local time (0440 GMT).
The cause of the incident is under investigation and there is no disruption to shipping traffic in the Singapore Strait.
Search and rescue operations are underway.
