Now, art lovers in Shanghai had the keys to the art kingdom at the weekend. The city's "Art 24 hours" event was held on Saturday. People could visit more than 40 art galleries in Shanghai that day, just by buying one ticket. Over 10 art events were also held that day. Let's take a look.
It's 7 pm at night.
And there's still long lines outside Shanghai's Fosun art center.
Most of the hundreds of art lovers still waiting there are taking part in the "Art 24 hours" event.
May 26th saw exhibitions on painting, photography, new media, interactive devices, and visual arts take place across Shanghai.
"I came from Suzhou and arrived here at noon. I have been exploring the art gallery for six hours."
The closing time for the Fosun Art Center is 8 pm, a little later than that of other art museums. So it has become the last stop for many visitors. But there's another reason for them come here late: the museum's appearance after dark.
"I think it's better to visit at night because the lighting is beautiful."
Meanwhile, the Shanghai How art museum is also open at night. Though there's no outdoor lighting, it still attracts many visitors.
"My kid is happy to come here. He has a lot of passion to see the art work, although it's late now."
Many wish the event could last longer, perhaps with more comprehensive ticket coverage.
"I hope I can spend a whole weekend visiting the art galleries, and I can still accept it if the ticket price goes higher."
Shanghai's "ART 24 HOURS" has created a Carnival of art in both the day and night-time in the city, allowing audiences of all ages feel the energy of integrating art into life.
