Chinese Stocks: Shares rise in thin trade ahead of CNY

Moving to the stock markets now. Chinese shares rose slightly Wednesday in the last trading day before the Spring Festival Holiday.  
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed 0.45 percent higher. But the trading volume was less than 100 million yuan. The Shenzhen Component rose 0.67 percent while the ChiNext dipped 0.11 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.27 percent throughout the lunar calendar 2017 or rooster year. The Shenzhen Component gained 3.78 percent while the ChiNext lost about 13 percent.
