"I want them to be safe," says Yang Shu, Executive Deputy Director of the Consular Assistance and Protection Center at China's Foreign Ministry, about those whom he has helped evacuate from dangerous zones around the globe.
As a life-saving diplomat, he has been at the fore of high-profile evacuations of Chinese and foreign nationals from Libya in 2011, Yemen in 2015 and South Sudan in 2016.
He and a 400-strong team devote themselves to guaranteeing the safety of Chinese nationals overseas.
How can he and his team fulfill what can sometimes seem like a mission impossible? Find out with Minds of China: December 18th-25th, 1015-1030, 1415-1430, 2045-2100 and 0315-0330 (next day) BJT (GMT+8).
