UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, saying that he is "deeply committed" to helping resolve the Ukraine crisis.
At a joint press conference after their Sunday meeting in Kiev, Guterres said the UN would work with regional diplomatic organizations including the Normandy Four, the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe “to do everything possible for the solution of this crisis that has been lasting already for such a long period.”
“You can be sure that for us this is something that we keep on the agenda; it is not a forgotten situation,” he added.
Ukraine has been suffering a political crisis since 2013, when conflict between the post-revolutionary Ukrainian government and pro-Russian insurgents spiraled out of control.
