Netflix’s political drama “House of Cards” has recently resumed production, with two new actors joining the cast for the final season.
Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear, both Academy Award nominees, would join Robin Wright, the leading star who plays Mrs. Underwood, in the series. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the two new actors will play siblings.
This came months after the streaming service Netflix announced the suspension of the series’ production and cut ties with Kevin Spacey, who was accused of sexual assault and harassment last October. Soon after the allegations, the streaming giant revealed that the sixth season would be the final for the show and would resume without Spacey.

During the months-long shutdown, Netflix and producers Media Rights Capital reworked the final season to write Spacey out.
With Spacey removed from the show, Robin Wright would take the leading role. According to the producers, it is not a stretch to write Spacey out, as in the Michael Dobbs book that inspired the series, Frank Underwood dies.
In October 2017, Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey made advances toward him when he was 14. Spacey said he has no memory of the event, and has denied the allegations.
The actor is now under investigation by police in London over three sexual assault allegations, according to the BBC.
The accusations came amid the viral #MeToo movement, which called on survivors of sexual abuse to realize that they are not alone. It became a trending hashtag on social media after revelations of alleged sexual abuse from media mogul Harvey Weinstein went public in October.
