In response, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said recently more and more American intellectuals had made their rational voices heard. He also said the two sides should properly and constructively manage trade frictions.
LU KANG, SPOKESPERSON CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY "I have noted Mr. Donohue's comments. Actually forty years of economic cooperation between China and the US have brought benefits for both countries. We have said many times that a trade war sees no winner. It is normal for China and the US to have trade disputes and frictions. The two sides should constructively resolve differences, make a bigger 'cake of cooperation', and push forward the healthy development of China-US trade ties."
