China Political Season: CPPCC, NPC gatherings to open in Beijing
[]
We start with China's most important annual political gathering, known as the Two Sessions. Lawmakers and political advisers from across the country are in Beijing.
More than two-thousand members of the advisory body - the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference - will hold their first session on Saturday. They will raise proposals regarding the economy, politics, and social development to lawmakers of the top legislature, the National People's Congress. About three-thousand NPC delegates are scheduled to open their annual session on Monday. They'll elect state leaders, discuss the Constitutional amendment and deliberate the government's work report.
