Dr. John Gong, a professor at the University of International Business and Economics, shared his views on the leverage that China has in trade negotiations with the US.
Gong said China’s imports of American agricultural products are mostly from Midwestern states, where farmers are main supporters of Donald Trump. US tariffs on China will not only hurt America ’s economy but also impose a negative impact on Donald Trump’s political base. He suggested that the US should think twice about the possible consequences.
