There's been a flurry of meetings this month seeking to prepare for new dialogue to resolve the frozen conflict on the Korean Peninsula. On March 5th, South Korean special envoy Chung Eui-yong met with Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang. The discussion included the possibility of dialogue between the United States and the DPRK. Three days later, the envoy arrived in the United States and passed on Kim Jong Un's proposal for a meeting with Donald Trump. The US president agreed. Chung also visited China, Japan and Russia.
On March 15th, DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho visited Sweden, for talks that included the nuclear issue and plans for the possible meeting between Trump and Kim. Six days later, delegates from the United States and the north and south of Korea met in Finland for confidence-building talks.
