In China, welcome ceremonies for state visits have gone through quite an evolution with adjustments through the years. And this month, ceremonies with the latest changes were held. CGTN's Omar Khan has more.

This is just one of the fresh arrangements for foreign leaders visiting China.
Previously, security vehicles for foreign guests entered the Great Hall of the People from a side entrance. Now they enter from a different route with a better view of Tian'anmen Square.
Together with President Xi Jinping, foreign leaders are to inspect an increased group of Guards of Honor -- more than 200 soldiers.
It is not new to see female soldiers in the group as they made their debut back in 2014. Back then there were just 13 women part of the group of soldiers dominated by men. Now over 50 female soldiers from the land, sea and air forces form a new team.
The reform also includes the military band. First, the uniforms. The color of the coats has been changed from red to blue. White girdles have replaced their golden ones. Second, the instruments. Musicians playing flutes and clarinets are now part of the band, adding more depth to the music. Third, the formations. The band used to end their performance by walking away from the leaders. Now they will stand still until seeing them off.
All of these changes represent respect and friendship. The brand new welcome ceremony is essential to create a cordial atmosphere between leaders before they get down to business. Omar Khan, CGTN.
