Sunday marks the sixth anniversary of the death of Kim Jong Il, the father of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un.
People went to the Grand Monument in Pyongyang to pay their respects on Saturday, and other memorial activities are scheduled to take place across the nation on Sunday.
Kim Jong Il died in 2011 at the age of 69. He had been the DPRK's leader since 1994.
