At least 11 people were killed and nine more were injured in western Guatemala after heavy rains caused a mudslide that swamped houses and buried a bus on Tuesday, the emergency services said.
Ten of the fatalities were in a buried bus, and another was inside one of the collapsed houses in the western village of San Pedro Soloma, Sergio Cabanas, the head of the National Disaster Reduction Coordinator confirmed in a statement.

"The ground is completely unstable and this could cause another tragedy," Cabanas told reporters.
Emergency services were working with local officials to launch rescue work and establish how many people are missing, the statement noted.
