Fresh clashes between the Taliban and rival ISIL in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar Province left 12 militants dead and 12 others wounded, a provincial government spokesman said on Monday.
The infighting happened on Sunday evening, in the Dara-e-Noor and Khogyani districts, where seven Taliban and five ISIL fighters were killed and 12 others, including five ISIL fighters, were wounded, spokesman Ataullah Khogyani told Xinhua.

Among those militants killed was Sayyed Aga, Taliban shadow district chief for Dara-e-Noor, the official noted.
In a separate development, police also arrested a key local ISIL member named Belal in the Hasak Mina district of the mountainous province Sunday, the source added. No comment had been made from the conflicting sides to the media. The rival armed groups often fight over expanding territory in parts of conflict-hit Afghanistan since ISIL emerged in early 2015.
A few weeks ago, 13 fighters from both sides were reportedly killed and 18 others wounded following a similar clash in Nangarhar.
