Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his country's forces responded forcefully on Saturday, after the loss of the F-16 fighter jet.
BENJAMIN NETANYAHU ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER "Yesterday we delivered some serious blows to the Iranian and Syrian forces. We made it absolutely clear to everyone that our rules of engagement have not changed at all. We will continue to attack any attempt to hurt us, that has been our policy and that will continue to be our policy."
Syria's state media reported on Saturday that its air defenses repelled an Israeli raid on a military base in the center of the country. Israel said the warplane had been attacking an Iranian drone control center. The loss of the F-16 is one of the most serious incidents involving Israel, Iran and Syria since the start of the Syrian civil war almost eight years ago.
