From terrorism to free trade: A look at past G20 meetings and their topics

The German city of Hamburg will play host to the 12th meeting of the G20 later this week with the theme “shaping an interconnected world”. The G20 is an annual summit focused on stabilizing the global economy and how to overcome all challenges that negatively affect it.
This year, Germany will press the G20 to collectively reaffirm its commitment to promoting free trade, resisting currency wars and fighting climate change.
In 2015, China held the G20 presidency and hosted the annual meeting in Hangzhou. Fiscal issues were more dominant as China focused on the diversity of voices and interests of developed and developing economies.
