2018 Int'l Army Games: Chinese army to hold three contests in Xinjiang

This will be the fifth year China is participating in the International Army Games and the second time it's hosting some of the contests. Our reporter Zheng Yibing is now in the city of Korla, in northwest China's Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region, where the People's Liberation Army will hold three contests.
ZHENG YIBING KORLA, XINJIANG UYGUR AUTONOMOUS REGION "The International Army Games 2018 in China will start on Sunday. Here in Korla, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, three will be held. They are Suvorov Attack, which involves infantry fighting vehicle crews; Clear Sky, a contest for air defense units; and Safety Route, which is purely for engineering units. This morning, heads of delegations from ten countries talked to media about their preparation and expectation. They thanked China for the support for the games, and hope all teams could achieve good scores and have friendly exchanges."
GENERAL ALEKSANDR LENTSOV RUSSIAN TEAM LEADER "The purpose of a high standards games is to improve everyone's competition capability. We thank China for its hospitality and preparation for the games. We hope we can strengthen ties between Russia and China, and deepen the friendship between the two armies through these games."
LIEUTENANT COLONEL KAMRAN ZAHEER PAKISTANI TEAM LEADER "This year, we have 16 participants coming to China for the games for the first time. We appreciate China's warm welcome and hospitality and friendship to the Pakistani people. I will also bring news of this friendliness back to Pakistan and the Pakistani people."
ZHENG YIBING KORLA, XINJIANG UYGUR AUTONOMOUS REGION "All teams arrived here at least one week ahead of the contests. As we observed in the fields, they are busy conducting exercises and the PLA Army said that all preparations are done, and all teams are ready for this year's contests here., CGTN, Korla, in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region."
