President of the International Ice Hockey Federation Rene Fasel says he fully supports the idea of establishing another joint Korean ice hockey team to participate in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
The official says a joint Korean hockey team's participation in Beijing will be a remarkable event and a symbol of peace. A dozen DPRK women's ice hockey players were added to an existing South Korean squad of 23 for the PyeongChang Winter Games. At least three players from the north must be selected for each game. The joint team had their first preliminary round game against the Swiss on February 10th. South Korea and the DPRK also marched together under a "unification flag" during the opening ceremony.
