China and Russia have wrapped up joint naval exercises off the coast of Qingdao in eastern China. The Chinese guided-missile frigate Linyi was one of the ships taking part. CGTN's Zheng Yibing was aboard during the drills.
Targets hit. Another strike. The Chinese navy frigate Linyi concludes its last mission in the joint exercises between the Chinese and Russian navies.
CAPTAIN ZHANG GUANGYAO PLANS LINYI "All the exercises we participated in have concluded safely, smoothly and successfully. I am very satisfied with the performance and mental state of all the personnel aboard our vessel."
The frigate departed the port of Qingdao on May 1st, then formed a formation with more than ten other Chinese and Russian vessels. From that day till May 4th, it took part in major drills. From anti-submarine and anti-aircraft missions, to firing off rocket-propelled depth-charges and the ship's main gun. It kept a close watch on the safety of the missions and coordinating with other vessels. The exercise helped forge strong bonds between Chinese crew and their Russian counterparts.
CAPTAIN ZHANG GUANGYAO PLANS LINYI "This exercise this time is a very important opportunity for our personnel. We are impressed by the combat capabilities of the Russian navy and the drill will help improve that of our own crew members."
When it was all said and done, vessels from both sides saw each other off and the crews waved their heartfelt goodbyes. It's clear the drill's success not just operational, but also human.
ZHENG YIBING PLANS LINYI "The exercise has concluded, but the duty will always continue. And the PLA Navy will carry on its missions. Zheng Yibing, CGTN, in the Yellow Sea."
