Chinese Premier Li Keqiang left Beijing on Wednesday for an official visit to Cambodia and to attend the second Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) leaders' meeting.
Li's visit to Cambodia comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
The Chinese premier said he expects stronger Lancang-Mekong cooperation and more progress in China-Cambodia relations in an article published in the Cambodian English-language paper, the Khmer Times.
Initiated by China in 2014, LMC consists of six countries-China, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam-and focuses on five priority areas of cooperation; connectivity, production capacity, cross-border economic cooperation, water resources management and agriculture and poverty reduction.
