Mosque in Hamburg looks to prevent discrimination

Islamophobia is on the rise in Europe, following a spate of terror attacks. The rise in hate crimes against Muslims culminated in the recent terror attack in north London, which saw a van hit worshippers leaving a mosque.
Daniel Abdin from Al Nour Islamic Center in Hamburg, north Germany, told CGTN "we work very hard to prevent radicalism and discrimination, but it’s not one way. ” He reiterated the importance of maintaining good relations with the authorities, politicians and various institutions.
However, Hamburg has one of the most vibrant radical scenes, and was infamously home to the Hamburg cell of terrorists who eventually carried out the 9/11 attacks. The actions of a small minority have made it hard to change attitudes against Islam.
Anja Domres, the deputy chief of Hamburg Intelligence Services, said that it is difficult for people to separate Muslims who practice religion in the usual way, from others who have been radicalised.
