Chinese New Year: Greetings fly in from around the world
[]
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron, and the son of the Belarusian president have sent their Chinese New Year greetings. Let's take a look.
Trudeau at the temple fair. On the 15th of February, the Canadian prime minister participated in the Spring Festival fair at the Fo Guang Shan temple in the greater Toronto area. His presence added much-needed warmth to the winter atmosphere. With the help of temple staff, he tried out paper cutting and received warm applause. The temple then presented paper cutting pieces which combined the shape of the dog and the Canadian maple leaf to the prime minister as a gift. Later, Trudeau sent out his greeting.
JUSTIN TRUDEAU CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER "From our family to yours, Sophie and I wish you joy, health, and peace in the year to come. Wishing you happiness and prosperity! Happy New Year!"
French President Emmanuel Macron sent his own greeting during a reception at Elysee Palace.
EMMANUEL MACRON FRENCH PRESIDENT "This year is the Year of the Dog. So I'm told it'll be the year of wisdom and idealism, as well as action when faced with obstacles. I can see a stimulating program there and we'll need your energy to achieve it. But real wisdom is always in being a pragmatic idealist, and it's in this spirit that, along with my wife, I'd like to wish you with all my heart a very happy year of the dog."
A beautiful performance from Belarus. President Alexander Lukashenko's third son Nikolai joined a Chinese musical teacher and presented a famous Chinese song: Jasmine Flower. About two years after his first visit to China in 2015, the young gentleman has also learned some good Chinese.
NIKOLAI LUKASHENKO SON OF BELARUSIAN PRESIDENT "Dear friends, distinguished uncle Xi and auntie Peng, wishing you a happy Spring Festival. Looking forward to meeting you in Belarus." WYS, CGTN.
