The Spring Festival travel rush is in full swing, with railway traffic rising significantly since February 1st.
An estimated daily peak of 10 million passenger trips were made on Sunday alone, and national railway authorities have added 937 trains to meet demand. Cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou saw the most passenger trips nationwide. Meanwhile, short distance trips declined Sunday after a small peak the previous day. Heavy traffic was seen at toll stations and highways leading to railway stations and airports.
