US soybean farmers are unhappy that Washington has taken aim at their largest trading partner -- China. That's according to the American Soybean Association. The growers' association said in a statement that it's worried about the potential for China to retaliate against US soybeans for newly implemented American tariffs. China is the largest purchaser of American soybeans, consuming about one third of its total output annually. The association says that soybean growers oppose the protectionist moves adopted by the Trump administration because they jeopardize their exports to China. The association says that the soybean sector isn't able to sustain extreme volatility and Chinese retaliation would cost many farmers their livelihoods.
