It took Zdenek Matejka of Novy Prerov, Czech Republic, about ten years of perseverance and 1.85 million match sticks to build a professional-standard billiard table. Last Christmas, he finally debuted it.
Zdenek started the life-size project without any kind of template, but only a design in his head.
He estimated the whole project would cost about 3,867 US dollars. The only material he used other than matches and wood glue was the green baize covering.
The body of the table is made from larger matches, with more subtle details like the lining made from smaller ones.
Zdenek, who works as an attendant at a wastewater treatment plant, spent all of his nights after work during the last decade building this table. “I like peace and this was actually my way of relaxing,” he said.
He intended to enter the record books for making the only life-size matchstick billiard table in the world.
