Entertainment in China has moved rapidly online in the last few years, with a flood of dramas available, and made exclusively for, video streaming apps and websites.
With the sheer quantity, quality can be hit and miss but now the government is looking to address this with a new set of regulations covering online dramas and the salaries of television stars.
The circular issued by five government departments encourages good television production houses to work with Internet dramas to improve the quality of their output.
