Thousands of people gathered at Coney Island beach in New York to take a dip in the ocean and celebrate the arrival of 2017. The event is organized by members of the Polar Bear Club every New Year. The long-standing tradition has steadily grown in popularity since the club was founded in 1903. Enthusiasts wore a range of costumes, turning the annual event into a creative cosplay carnival.
