To make Two Sessions more transparent, members of the CPPCC answered questions on a wide range of issues. They discussed what they think is best for China looking ahead. CGTN reporter Liu Yang wraps up the discussions.
LIU YANG BEIJING "Members talked about China's digital economy, the responsibility of entrepreneurship, social insurance reform, and educational cooperation. One member has spent the last 16 years with the CPPCC. Many of her proposals strictly focus on medical care and social insurance related to migrant workers, disabled people, prisoners, and drug addicts."
DAI XIUYING CPPCC MEMBER 'Migrant workers' legal awareness is poor. Many people do not sign labour contracts; they are satisfied if their industrial injuries can get a timely treatment and wage issues can be resolved."
CPPCC member Dai Xiuying says China's migrant workers face low wages, have few professional skills, and lack good education. Less than 20 percent of them utilize social insurance program.
DAI XIUYING CPPCC MEMBER "The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security is formulating regulations on social security management and service. I suggest that social insurance follow migrant workers wherever they go and establish a national social insurance public service platform."
Other members at Wednesday's gathering discussed China's digital economy, entrepreneurship, and agricultural development.
CHEN ZHUOXI CPPCC MEMBER "The Greater Bay Area is a place for Hong Kong's youth to pursue their entrepreneurships and dreams. We recently created the Youth Entrepreneurship Program. It provides training, practice, and shops to their business. Many Hong Kong students say can't find the right opportunity in Hong Kong, but they can pursue their dreams here, build up their brands and development them in the country."
Some speakers also promoted more cross-strait cultural exchange between China's Mainland and Taiwan. This is the last members' corridor of the Two Sessions. This year's event covered a wide range of issues such as poverty alleviation, technological development, and healthcare reform. Liu Yang, CGTN, Beijing.
