At least five killed, 15 missing in Chile mudslide

At least five people were killed and 15 others were missing after heavy rain triggered a mudslide in southern Chile on Saturday, local authorities said.
Four Chileans and a male tourist, whose name and nationality have not been disclosed, died in the mudslide, according to authorities.

The mudslide hit the village of Villa Santa Lucia near Corcovado National Park, a popular tourist attraction in Chile.
President Michelle Bachelet has declared the area a disaster zone.
"I have ordered rescue workers to put all the necessary resources toward protecting the people of Villa Santa Lucia," Bachelet announced said on social media.

The mudslide also destroyed a school and several homes and roadways. A voting center was damaged as well, ahead of Chile's presidential election on Sunday.
The country's authorities said the vote will go as planned.
