It's believed that in China, there are nearly two dozen seismically active belts that cover five regions. Among them are the southwestern earthquake-prone regions that cover Tibet, Sichuan and Yunnan. The north-western regions include Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu and Ningxia, while the northern region includes Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong and Jiangsu. The other two are the southeastern coasts covering Fujian and Guangdong, and the island of Taiwan.
