Lu Wei, former deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, was expelled from the CPC and dismissed from public office after severe disciplinary violations, according to the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection website.
Investigation shows that Lu has severely violated CPC's political regulations. He has not just been extravagant in act, taken public materials personal, attained his ambitions by hook, but formed cliques secretly and abuse his power for personal gain.
The 58-year-old had also been the former head of the Office of the Central Leading Group for Cyberspace Affairs since May 2014. Before that, he was Beijing's vice mayor and minister of the Publicity Department for two years.
