The first-ever China International Import Expo will descend on Shanghai in one month. While buyers and sellers can't wait to make deals at the city's National Exhibition and Convention Center, staff at the center are already hard at work preparing for any unforeseen contingencies. As CGTN's Wu Lei shows us, their attitude is better safe than sorry.
WU LEISHANGHAI "According to the CIIE, about 2,800 companies from more than 130 countries and regions will showcase products for an estimated 150,000 buyers. The average exhibition area for each company is up to 100 square meters. Over the next few days, they are going to make up this area behind me to their best-ever exhibition area."
SHAO GE, HEAD OF SECURITYNATIONAL EXHIBITION AND CONVENTION CENTER "We have basically aligned the entrance and exit of people and cars separately. We will put some staff and volunteers at all entrances and exits for people, helping those who came to the expo reach the place they want to go."
WU LEISHANGHAI "In November, hundreds of thousands of global buyers and sellers will gather here to do business. But that said, how prepared is the staff for an accident? What if a fire breaks out? What if there's a power or network failure? That's why event organizers are conducting emergency drills and rehearsals behind me."
FENG NAN, DIRECTOR NATIONAL EXHIBITION AND CONVENTION CENTER "Following this comprehensive test run, we found some problems. For example, the cleanliness of the venues, the guidance of our APP, security and evacuation routes, etc. Now we are taking steps to rectify these issues."
PENG CHUNYAN, ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER OF OPERATIONNATIONAL EXHIBITION AND CONVENTION CENTER "We will continue the drills for the remaining 30 days. Some drills will be made by different departments, while others will be system wide test runs."
WU LEISHANGHAI "Over the next few days, the participants' most cutting edge products will arrive at ports in Shanghai. In order to make this very first event a success, the organizers, and relevant departments have come up with a series of measures to facilitate business participation, such as giving participants clearance priority and tax guarantees."
WU LEISHANGHAI "As the host city, Shanghai will work to ensure a smooth traffic flow, improve catering and hotel services for visitors, and keep the city safe. City officials want event-goers to enjoy their stay. WL, CGTN, SH."
