At least 29 people were killed and some 60 wounded after a car bomb struck a local bank as people were queuing to collect salaries before the Eid holidays in Lashkar Gah in Afghanistan's southern Helmand Province on Thursday, according to AFP.
"At least 29 people were killed and 60 others wounded in today's bombing," Mullah Dad Tabidar, head of Bost government hospital, told AFP, adding the death toll could rise further.
Authorities said the attack occurred at around noon in front of the local branch of New Kabul Bank.
"It happened at a time when civilians and officials had lined up outside the bank to collect their salaries," city police spokesman Salam Afghan told AFP.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
